Life can be challenging, especially when starting a family, raising little ones, and trying to juggle work schedules and events. Be encouraged that whatever season or challenge you may be facing, there is change coming and beauty in every season.
Look around at the trees. Do you notice the leaves are changing color? The beautiful yellow, orange, and red hues stand brightly where the once-green trees bloomed in the spring. Soon, these beautiful leaves will lie on the ground, and the trees will be bare.
Did you know that the beautiful fall colors are the actual color of the leaves? The green pigment we see in the spring is just the chlorophyll the trees use to make food. The chlorophyll hides the true colors of the leaves during the warmer months. The tree stops producing chlorophyll once the weather turns cooler, and bright yellow and orange hues appear. These colors are always present in the leaf but are covered by chlorophyll. This makes it seem that every tree has the same color when, in fact, they all have beautiful, brightly colored leaves under the green pigment.
Just like the beautiful colors that are hiding under the green leaves, sometimes the beauty in life is hidden under heavy burdens of schedules, sickness, financial strain, complex relationships, hard seasons of parenting, and the list goes on. If we can remember the leaves in the fall with all their brilliant hues, maybe we can see the good in the difficult and remember that these are only seasons. Just like fall seasons come and go, a new one is on the horizon.
“To everything there is a season…” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
